I cannot connect to my router and my XP Pro/SP3 system does NOT have the Wireless Zero Configuration service installed.  How do I get that re-installed?
I have the latest driver for my Linksys WPC54GS PCMCIA card. The software from Linksys does not support WPA security which my rout supports (and I do not want to use WEP). The Wireless Zero Configurator is what I need, but the service is not installed on my Windows XP Pro w/ SP3 system.1 person got this answerI do too

Hi,Taken from http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/871122Heres how to re-enable the Wireless Zero Configuration Service. If your computer or your wireless network adapter did not come with its own wireless network software, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK. Click Network Connections. In Network Connections, click to select your wireless connection, and then click Change settings of this connection. On the Wireless Networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box. To start the Wireless Zero Configuration service, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s, and then click OK. Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply. In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK. Or try the automatic fix:http://blogs.technet.com/fixit4me/archive/2009/04/22/turn-on-the-wireless-zero-configuration-service-in-xp.aspx

JJ, this will not work (I have already looked at the KB article), as there is no Wireless Networks tab for the wireless card and there is NO Wireless Zero Configuraiton service installed for me to enable and start. Hence the post in the first place. Any other ideas? I need to re-INSTALL the WZC service, not re-enable it.Jon Golberg, MCSESr. Systems Administrator/West Corporation402=716-1632Email removed for privacy/Email removed for privacy

JJ, this sounds like my experience, but I am not a member of Experts-Excange, so I cannot view the solutions. Can you cut and paste one or two of the solutions answers here? I will try to start a 7-day trial.Jon Golberg, MCSESr. Systems Administrator/West Corporation402-716-1632Email removed for privacy/Email removed for privacy
