I can not connect to or join a home group after changing routers
My Linksys router just went south, stopped working, died, etc. and I replaced it with a Belkin router. The Belkin device does everything it is supposed to do, nothing special, and nothing different than what the Linksys did. Both are/were basic 802.11x wireless routers with 4 wired ports. (linksys WRK54G and Belkin F7D3301 are the model numbers) I can not get my homegroup to work between two computer both running Windows 7 Home Premium. I have removed both the the home network and put them into a work network just so I can share folders and printers between the two. I can create a new homegroup on one PC, but the 2nd PC can not or will not join the home group created on the first. To ensure I have entered the same password for both PC, I have created a text file on a thumb drive with the password and copied and pasted it the password fields. Still no connection. BTW, both PCs are connected to the router with a wire. The troubleshooter has not found a solution or even suggested one. Someone at work suggested I try these forums. I am fairly compenent with making changes and fixing things via system files and the registry. Any suggestions? Thank you, Alan
