I can make Windows 7 drop from the Internet by Uploading a JPEG to Facebook
Done it multiple times now. Just a standard JPEG image, I try to upload and I drop internet immediately. Happens in varying times after startup. I am laughing while I type this. My system is as follows: Asus P5K Q6600 8800GT I have assigned an IP address to the machine. I have been having issues with the internet dropping from this machine for a while now. The network has multiple other machines and devices that all work OK, some also with Windows 7. Looking for some info as the last thread I posted came back with nothing.

Hi Alex, thanks for the reply. This is an old topic but I am now encountering the same problem when using Internet Explorer 9. I am able to repeatedly drop my internet by simply uploading a picture to photobucket. I have tried with multiple browsers and I get the same thing. Once the connection is lost, generally performing the troubleshooter will allow me to regain connectivity, however, sometimes this fails completely and I forced to restart. I understand that other people have had similar issues when uploading content that they do not have permission to. The pictures I am uploading have all been taken by myself so that should be no problem. The files are also pretty small, generally JPEG's around 1.2MB to 2MB per picture. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. All of my drivers are up to date, as is the operating system and browsers. edit: This issue is not limited to photobucket. When creating a post on ebay, if I upload a picture to ebay I am also dropping internet then.

Also tried with auto-assigned IP/DNS. Still having problems. All drivers 100% updated. Edit: Once my internet drops (just did it again, uploading an image to ebay), I run the troubleshooter which informs me that 'Connection between your access point, router or cable modem and the Internet is broken - DETECTED' and 'The default gateway is no available - FIXED'. Usually running the troubleshooter fixes the problem, this one did not. Now Network and Sharing Centre has crashed, will not re-open and I am forced to restart :( I have multiple other devices on this network including 2 of my own laptop's, my wife's laptop, and an iTouch. None of these devices are having any trouble at all. All of the other PC's use Windows 7!!

So I seem to have narrowed it down to certain packets of information being sent out. Things I have done to make this happen include posting on forums and uploading pictures to photobucket. I would really like to know if anyone else has encountered this issue.

Can I just say it's kind of useless when the only Microsoft post is telling what I already knew 5 days after I posted it - can I get some ideas here?

Also discovered that I can also make it fail but copying something FROM the machine in question, to another machine on my network. Still no word from Microsoft about if this is a common issue?
