I can NOT share internet connection via adhoc after SP1 update...
Hello, please help me.. My connection is like this, i have a wired DSL internet connection connected to my laptop then i wish to share this internet connection with another laptop via wireless adhoc connection. For sometime this was successful, i was able to connect the two laptops and share the internet connection, this was until i updated my windows vista. The problem is, when i create an adhoc wireless connection on the 1st screen i'll be typing the Network name then password, then.. i click next, it should say "(Name of network) network is ready to use..then a button SHOULD appear that states "Share Internet Connection".. How come the button is NOT there any more??? Thus i cant share my internet connection with the other laptop... I'm seeing this problem on other post but there's no progress. HELP us PLEASE!

Hi, At this time, please try the following suggestions: 1. Install the latest device driver for the wireless NIC. 2. Setup the Ad Hoc again with another name. To create an Ad Hoc network, follow these steps: 1. Click the Start Button and select Control Panel. 2. Select Network and Internet. (If Control Panel is in Classic View, skip this step) 3. Open Network and Sharing Center. 4. Select Set up a connection or network (in the left pane). 5. In the resulting window, select Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-to-computer) network. 6. Click Next and again on the following page. 7. In the Network name textbox, input a name for the network. 8. Select a security type from the dropdown. (If you select WEP, you will need to enter a security key in the unghosted textbox) 9. If you want to use this network more than once, check the Save this network checkbox, if you only need it for a one time fix, leave the checkbox unchecked. 10. Click Next. 11. Click Close. For more information, please refer to: Ad hoc networking http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/0e158c21-4c70-4235-879d-0c9133218e561033.mspx If any error receives, please give me the exact error message or attach the screenshot to the thread. If the issue persists, please check the following: 1. Please check the event log to see if there are any related error messages. 2. If its possible, please try to restore the system back to the previous status when the issue didnt occur. Hope it helps. Nicholas Li - MSFT
