I appear to have a conflict between a wired and wireless connection to my router that prevents internet access via wireless
I have a brand new ASUS EeePC Netbook. I have just completed downloading and installing all XP updates and IE8. I did this via a wired connection to my Belkin G Wireless Modem Router. I then proceeded to configure my wireless connection to said router, but forgot to disconnect my wired connection when I did this. I don't know if this is the cause of the next problem but suspect it could be.When connected wirelessly, I appear to have a solid connection with IP Address and connected status. If I try and connect to the asus web site through IE8. I get the error message that the webpage cannot be displayed. If I put google.co.uk into the address bar, after a while the browser comes up with the bing search pagewhich lists Google as the top hit. If I click on the link in Bing, I get the same error message. When connected to the router via both wireless and wired connection, or wired alone, I can surf to any website I like.I thought initially it was a problem with IE8 (I had a similar problem afterinstalling IE8 the first time round on the PC I am currently typing this which was only fixed with a complete reinstall!). However, when I installed Google Chrome, Igot exactly the same issue. When I open the Network Connections page with the wired connection, I can see an Internet Gateway icon, but not when I am connected wirelessly. So I suspect the missing gateway is the issue. How do I get the gateway showing on the wireless connection?1 person needs an answerI do too
