I am unable to log into any windows user accounts
I am unable to access either the guest or my own user account on my Acer Aspire One net book. When I enter my password, the computer begins to log (the message 'loading your personal settings...' appears under my user account name) but then suddenly this changes to 'logging off' and I am returned to the enter password stage.I have tried logging in with incorrect passwords which returns a 'did you forget your password' message, and I also tried this in safe mode and encountered the same results with both my own account and the administrator account. This problem began after I restarted my netbook following uninstalling antivirus software (McAfee Security Center).1 person got this answerI do too

Thanks, I will try that. You mentioned "Then you can boot from the USB stick and get access to your hard disk/files and perhaps replace this file." With what would I replace it? Thanks again.Josh

You could try extracting it from an install disk/partition or find another XP machine of similar service pack state and copy the file to your machine.HTH, JW
