I am trying to start my Netlogon for Windows 7 and get and error__"The netlogon service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do."
I was trying to add my Windows 7 Pro 64 to my domain that is using Server 2003. I heard that I can add a windows 7 to a Server 2003 domain. The windows 7 can see the Domain because it comes up asking for a username and password but after inputting the information it gives me a DNS error where it said that it failed to find my local DNS. Now my other three computers running XP Pro and Media Center were able to find the Domain and was added to my 2003 Server Domain. I could ping the 2003 server from the Windows 7 computer. The reason I put this under Netlogon is because I was looking in my service and the Netlogon was not running and when I read about this server it said that it can prevent a computer from seeing the DNS for adding to a Domain. I tried to turn on all the services that depend on this for running and turn on others that I thought that may help. The only thing I can think is my logging for Netlogon is not enabled and that may prevent the service from running. Other then that I have no idea what would be causing this issue.Any help is needed.

That message about the netlogon service is normal for a computer not joined to a domain. It sounds like you may have a DNS problem. Is the Windows 7 computer using the domain controller for DNS and no other DNS servers? Please post the results of ipconfig /all from the Windows 7 computer and the domain controller.Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience
