I am not administrator on Win XP any more. Why?????__
Hello all. I have noticed strange change in my Win XP (SP2) yesterday. Not sure when happened. Maybe somebody can help me to understand this and fix. Yesterday I tried to open calendar by double clicking on clock icon on the task bar. But a pop up appeared with message to contact administrator for making changes. I checked account type of the only user (me) in Control panel. It was Limited account. And I couldn’t do any changes. After I tried to Install or uninstall any program, change my firewall settings but every time I was advised to contact administrator. I installed Win XP with legal key couple month ago and everything was OK till now. I use Avast antivirus and firewall included in Windows, nothing else. I also checked Internet connection, remote access is ticked but I can not untick it as menu is not active. Have I been hacked by someone or I can fix it? Please advise hoe to fix it. There is another Win XP installed on the same PC with Outpost firewall program. That one works ok and user is only administrator. Outpost registers from 5 to 8 port scans and attacks every hour in average. It is home PC with DSL model from T-online. Triesd to use on-line scanning to identify problem but again did not work. then tried to start on safety mode and recover system, again was advised to contact administrator. I think my PC is remotely administrated? is it possible to fix it? can recovery fix problem or I need to reinstall the OS thanks

Hi,· Was there a default administrator account, when you started the computer in safe mode?Step 1: There should be default administrator account in Windows XP when booting the computer into the safe mode. Try to login into that account and make the changes in user account A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222Create and customize user accounts: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/accounts.mspx Step 2: This issue can be due to virus attack.a. You can do a PC Safety scan by clicking on the link http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm and Clicking on the Full Service scan and accept the Agreement. b. I changed my account settings and created another administrator account with Password, just in case.also deleted another admin account which was on my wife name but she did not create this. Scanned the PC with Microsoft Malicious Soft and also installed Outpost firewall and did full scan. nothing was!. Rebooted and logged in in to Eng Win XP with both Admin account. now everything ok. another WinXP looks to be OK as will.thanks.
