I am having issues with connecting to network drive and outlook with win 7
I cannot connect to my network drive or Outlook doesn't work with Windows 7. I can get the internet. My ISP provider said everything was hooked up correctly on Win 7. Belkin said the router was hooked up correctly and no issues with Win 7. The 2 other computers I hooked up to the network via a Belkin router all work with outlook and the network drive and they have Windows XP. I have disconnected the firewall on the router and windows defender on Win 7? What else can I do? Thanks Brian

Hi, May I know the following: 1. The exact error messages appeared 2. Where is the network drive located; is it hosted by a Windows XP computer as a share folder? 3. Where does the Microsoft Office Outlook connect to? Please understand that in order to avoid possible confusion and make our discussion clear, it is highly recommended that we work on the issues one by one. Therefore, I would like to suggest that we focus on the accessing network drive issue first. At this time, please try the following: 1. Check if you can ping the host of the network drive with IP Address and name. 2. Adjust the security setting on the Windows 7 computer: 1) Click the Start Button, type "gpedit.msc" (without quotation marks) and click OK. 2) In the "Group Policy" window, double click on "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration". 3) Double click on "Security Settings"-> "Local Policies"-> "Security Options" 4) In the right panel, double click on the "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level", please select "Send LM & NTLM Responses". 5) Click Apply and OK. 3. Adjust sharing settings: 1) Go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings”. 2) Under “File sharing connections”, select “Enable File Sharing for Devices that Use 40 or 56-bit encryption”. 3) Under “Password protected sharing”, select “Turn off password protected sharing”. 4) Save the changes above. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
