I absolutely can't set up a homegroup
I have a desktop and a laptop both on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The desktop is connected to the internet through a LAN connection and the laptop through a wireless connection. I didn't know if this would work so I got a wireless adapter and then connected the desktop to the wireless connection. I have set up a homegroup on the desktop three ways. One with just the LAN connection, one with just the wireless connection and one with both connected. The desktop creates a homegroup just fine, but my laptop can't connect to it. If I create the homegroup on the laptop and then try to connect the desktop I have the same problem. It simply says it cannot create a homegroup on this computer. I have tried all the fixes I have found on this site and nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong? One of the reasons why I invested in Windows 7 was so I could share my data between my two computers. What is so weird is that I can remote between the computers, I just can't share data via a homegroup.

A machine can be a member of only one Homegroup at a time. Decide which machine is to host the Homegroup and note the password for that Homegroup. Then go to the other machine, leave its Homegroup and then join the Homegroup on the host machine.
