I Have An Overactive Hard Drive
Well either my drive is overworking or it's just gotten noisier. I just hear it working a lot more recently compared to last year. Don't know if this is: 1. normal wear and tear. 2 mal-ware/virus which i check for repeatedly but unsuccessfully with many of the free programs offered, 3. or something else? Can anyone offer any assistance?

Open the Performance Monitor, and see what the disk is actual accessing, and how often. -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

Noise can be a warning that the drive may soon fail. Backup your data to another drive. Visit the manufacturer's support site for the drive and download their drive utility. Run the Quick test to check the health of the drive.
