Return the PCMCIA card and purchase a USB wireless adapter instead. Or call Linksys/Cisco tech support which is actually excellent.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

thank you for the reply ,sir! but before returning the card ,will it help if i format my laptop?is it a problem of my windows xp pro sp3(maybe an incorrect installation of the OS or missing wifi updates ) ?why to use a USB wireless adapter instead, why do you think this will solve the problem? i think the usb adapter may use a lot of CPU rather the card will.

No, I certainly wouldn't reinstall Windows for this. I suggested a USB wireless network adapter since your older computer may not support the PCMCIA card. The USB adapter will not "use a lot of CPU" at all. I would contact Linksys support.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
