IPv6 and DHCPv6
I am working on a project for a class I am taking at my local university. My goal is to get a network running with IPv6. I seem to have hit a roadblock when it comes to DHCPv6 however. I was using Server 2008 RC1 as well as the newly released Server 2008 Standard (eval) and configured it as a DHCPv6 server with a scope. It seems that my Vista Business Edition will not obtain an IPv6 addres from this server. If I use a third-party DHCPv6 client (such as Dibbler) I do get an IPv6 address on my XP machine. Does anyone know what I am missing? My end goal is to have a DHCPv6 environmnet running as close as possible to how a DHCPv4 environment would run (so I beleive stateful configuration to be the correct choice here. Again, this is for a class and is merely an experiment/project, not actually being rolled out in the real world. I just thought if someone had the know-how and the time to help me, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi dwboley, On a Windows Vista machine, please type the following command and export the output to me for further research: ipconfig /all netsh int ipv6 show int "local area connection" I will check the issue on the Windows Vista side first. However, please understand this issue may need to be submitted to Windows Server 2008 discussion group for further troubleshooting as itis relatedto DHCP server.
