IP address/ internet connection issue XP
I have 3 computers: 1 netbook (this one) running windows 7, 1 netbook running XP, and an older (05) desktop running XP as well. The two netbooks are wireless and accessing the internet perfectly. The desktop is wired and is not. I have been working on getting this machine online off and on for months now. I had a virus, got rid of it, and can't get online. I called the cable provider and my modem is fine, called my router manufacturer and the router is fine. I updated my ethernet driver, and have gone around and around with ipconfig /renew with the message "Unable to contact your DHCP server." I've tried to manually configure the ip address and I've tried the Netsh command. Thought it could be the firewall, disabled that and nothing. I don't know what else to do. Please help me. I will be very cooperative and patient.1 person needs an answerI do too

The last time I had a PC that behaved this way, I had to reinstall Windows.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

I have the same problem. I have an xp machine that all of the sudden cannot get an IP address over the wireless network. The computer connects to the wireless network, but no IP. Every other computer in the home can connect. I have two wireless nec cards and have same problem with both on that computer. Have used nec cards in other computers and they work. Something is corrupted, but don't know what.
