My static IP address changed to a dynamic one about a week ago. Why did this happen? I'm using Vista Home Basic.

Did you sign up for a new ISP connection or have you added the computer into a DOMAIN which has a DHCP server...??? probably these are the only reasons which should change you addressing scheme......However if you are not able to access the internet and are not aware of performing any of the two above steps try opening the network properties....and then set the properties back to static from dynamic and type in your old IP and see if it works....please do post the results....hope this would be helpful...Regards, KOWSHAL H.M. a.k.a W@R10CK
