IPV4 gone when using Hyper-v

Hello,

I have multiple hyper-v machine's running on my Windows 8.1 professional, for my education. I just checked my ipv4 address and i noticed that i don't have an ipv4 address. I do have Internet and a working connection but i cant seem to set a staticipv4 address. I do need a staticipv4 address since i also use my PC as a media server.

I have 3 network adapters:

- 1 physical adapter, connecting the Ethernet cable to my machine

- 1 Hyper-v external card, connecting my virtual NAT router to the Internet

- 1 Hyper-v Internal card, connection all my virtual machines together.

Please help.

Kind regards,

Rvoosterhout

Hi,

After creating an external virtual network switch, you need to set it on that virtual switch instead of the physical network card. You can find the virtual switch in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections as well.

As Shaoen Shan says, the IP needs to be set on the virtual switch.

Thank you for your reply. How do I know which one is the switch? I have an external an internal one. I use the external one to connect my virtual machine's to the Internet, the internal one to connect all the vm's together.

The External one. The settings are the same as config an adapter.

Ok, but when i enter my IP information:

IP: 192.168.1.10
SNM: /24
DFG: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4

My Internet connection stops, and i can't connect anymore.

Before you enter the static info, do you successfully get a DHCP address and internet connection?

if so, does the info match what you're putting in for the static info (excluding the IP address)?

Yes with DHCP i have working Internet connection.

When I copy and enter my static IP, with the exact data i got from my DHCP server:

IP 192.168.1.102 (scope 100 until 200)

SNM: /24

DFGW: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 212.54.44.54 (my isp's DNS address)

When i enter this data as a static IP, I lose my Internet connection, also when i try a different IP address.

What I did right now is assign a static IP to my mac address in my Router. Now i'll wait 8 hour to see if I keep the same IP address, then it's also solved
