IPSEC & VPN
I'm trying to get vista running on may home pc. The only hold up is getting my VPN client to work. The client is written by Nortel. When i try to connect it get the following: There is a conflict with MS IPSEC Turn on "Always UDP Encap" option for NAT Traversalfrom the vpn server or disable MS IPSEC My question is how do i trun MS IPSEC off? Doubt the company will make vpn changes just for me

Hi, Following KB article would help you in allowing IPSec traffic if there is a NAT device in front of your client of server (IPSec NAT traversal). http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926179/en-us

I just ran into this issue myself. Does the regedit changes on the client do the trick? Thanks.

Hi, I tried the solltion proposed in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926179/en-us but no way to get the Nortel VPN connection, I get the following message: (There is a conflict with MS IPSEC Service. Please either turn on 'always UDP Encap' option for Nat Traversal from VPN Server or Disable the MS IPSEC Service). Is there any other solution? Thanks

Hi,I havent ran into this issue myself but for turning IPSEc off you can simpley stop it's service (PolicyAgent).I think that the Error Message you recieve is refferd to the way IPSec works, IPSec uses UDP Port 500 for Creating the initial IKE Communication. If that port is not avialable then you may have problemns with IPSec.Hope this information helps...Assaf Miron http://Assaf.Miron.googlepages.com
