IM Going Mad With Permisions Here Why Can't I Save HOST File?
this hall file and folders permision in windows 7 is a real mess i am an ADMINISTRATOR i am the FILE OWNER it not in read only mode and yet HE DOESN'T LET ME SAVE THE FILE i checked the folder/s permisions and everything is ok SO WHAT CAN I DO TO SOLVE ALL THIS PERMISION PROBLEMS ONCE AND FOR ALL???i'm currently using uac even thoughe i know most people disable it if i ware to disable it would it help in any way?do you have some sort of a fix to fix all this permisions once and for all?10x in advance

Hmmm...Have you assigned all the permissions for your Admin Acc? have you switched the ownership to your Admin Account? cause i can remove any Host file or place a Host file whenever i want ,i just need to take all the Ownerships and then perform the desired task...Check also if the SYSTEM has all permissions!!!PS: feel happy that win7 doesnt allow anything to be pasted easily in %System32% folders !Best regards,RR

i took owenrship over the entire drive once i'v finished installing the windows administrators have full permisions system have full permisions but when i try to save it said access denied and it not just host file i have constant problems with permisions that i can't overide even thoughe im an administrator the only one except the administrator account itself in control userpasswords2 i'm in the administrators group and everything so why does permisions doesn't work???10x in advance.:)

Yes you can! Right click Notepad and "Run as administrator", open hosts file from within Notepad.

thanks for the answar the problem has been solved long ago by simply disabling the uac if i rememer correctly.
