IM Conference / Group conversation Timeout

Hi all,

I have a situation here where by

  1. I'm in an IM conference with 3 users.
  2. But after 4 hours of inactivity participants get kicked out and are forced to restart the conversation. Says "You have been removed from this conversation".

The only time out setting I can see is ConferenceIMIdleTimeout value in Client Policy and is currently Blank. TechNet says that the maximum value of that parameter is 1 hr.

Questions

  1. Is it possible to not have a timeout or at least extend the time out ?
  2. Extend the existing behaviour where it times out after 4 hrs ? (Still have to run a full trace, but gut feeling is that it is TCP timeout setting that is coming into play at the moment).

Any help is appreciated, thanks in adv

As mentioned in Lync document, the ConferenceIMIdleTimeout must be less than or equal to 1 hour.

You can go to Lync Options Status, and set the value of the Show me as Inactive when my computer has been idle for this many minutes to the maximum 360 min. Then, create a group conversation and check again.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try and will let you know.

By the way, attached is I see - exactly after 4 hrs.

Still the same I'm afraid. I'll run a wireshark trace next time to see why it happens as well.

Hi, I am experiencing the same issue with some, was changing this setting to a higher value fixed the issue for you?
