Hi,
I am reaching out to you for getting some of my questions resolved around the LYNC, formally known as 'Microsoft Office Communicator (OCS) 2007 R2'. It will be great if you could confirm/address the same.
To provide you with some background, my questions will be around the layout of Instant Message (IM) feature of the Microsoft Office Communicator. Here is how a typical saved chat in Conversation Saved History folder of Outlook looks like:
From: Surname2, Firstname2 [firstname2.surname2@xyz.com]
Sent: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 7:20 PM
To: Surname2 Firstname2; Surname1, Firstname1
Subject: Conversation with Surname2, Firstname2
Surname2, Firstname2 [06:22]: Hi
Surname1, Firstname1 [06:22]: Hello
Now, here are my questions -
Ques 1: Whose name comes in the 'From' section of the saved chat log? Is it the person who initiates the chat or is it chosen at random? Please confirm the exact methodology that is followed.
a) Will the name format in 'From' section of saved chat log differ from what is present in the chat conversation, i.e. will these two names differ in terms of capitalisation of letters (for example - ''SURNAME1, FIRSTNAME1" instead of "surname1, firstname1")?
Ques 2: How is time mentioned in the 'Sent' section of the typical saved chat log decided? Does it have any relation with the last message sent/received?
a) Can these two times (the time in 'Sent' section and the time of last message sent in conversation) differ based on the time zones, i.e. if saved message log is of a different time zone and time of last message sent/received is of the local time zone?
b) Can time format be different in 'Sent' section and the one in the chat conversation in terms of 24 hour vs. 12 hour time format? Please confirm if a consistent time format is used for the chat logs or not?
Ques 3: If there are multiple saved chat logs on the same day, can these two chat logs have different name formats for one of the participant? Examples of two formats has been noted below:

Subject: Conversation with Surname1, Firstname1
Surname2, Firstname2 [08:09]: Hi
Surname2, Firstname2 [08:12]: Hello
Layout 2:

Subject: Conversation with Firstname1 Surname1
Surname2, Firstname2 [08:09]: Hi
Surname2, Firstname2 [08:12]: Hello
Firstname1 Surname1 [08:45]: Bye
Ques 4: How the subject of the saved messages is decided? Can a participant who is initiating the conversation have his/her own name in the subject "Conversation with XYZ"? Please see the sample layout below and confirm if this is possible or not?
Layout 3:
From: Firstname1 Surname1
Sent: Friday, October 7, 2011 6:27 PM
To: Firstname1 Surname1; Surname2, Firstname2
Subject: Conversation with Firstname1 Surname1
It will be helpful if you could answer the above mentioned questions. Please feel free to answer partially as well in case you are unsure of answers to some questions.
Thanks,
