IIS uninstalled itself!!!
I had installed IISchoosing various options, and after a reboot it was all working fine (navigating to http://localhost showed the iis welcome page). However i forgot to install the management console!! So i went back in and selected 'IIS Management Console' under 'Web Management Tools' and after a reboot http://localhostcannot be found!!So going back into windows features shows all iis components uninstalled (Unchecked), but the containing folders has the box filled indicating it is installed (Screen shot:)http://www.ataye.com.au/clients/Ataye/Windows Components IIS Uninstalled.jpgIIS Management had also dissapeared from 'Admin Tools', but 'Internet Information Services' branch still exists in 'Computer Management' under Services and Applications'.I will try to re-install all components, including the management console at the same time and see if that works. I wonder if this could be the case with modifying installed windows features, or if it is just limited to my situation??

Further to my IIS uninstallation post (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/bd484b44-1c48-46e8-bfd5-475c086a371b), i finally installed all iis components, however, when i open the management console it is empty, as in no connections / actions / workspace etc (see screenshot below). Is this a known issue or is it just me?? Is there another way to manage iis or is there a workaround?? No matter what i do it just wont manage my local iis. Even the 'IIS Help' link doesn't work!! If i cant get this workig i'll have to go backto Vista or use a virtual machine to work with web apps (Im a web app developer!!)(http://www.ataye.com.au/clients/Ataye/IIS Manager.jpg)
