IIS mysteriously disappearing from Win7 machine
Hi. I was at the MVP Summit last week and mentioned this to a couple of IIS MVP's, and they told me to report it. Not sure where, so I'm putting it here. If this is the wrong place, please let me know.I have a desktop machine running Windows 7. I have installed IIS on it. I use it to test ClickOnce deployments. I generally remove the folders I've created under the c:\inetpub\ folder after I finish testing. I don't like to leave junk behind. When I do that, the next time I go to deploy something, I find that IIS is no longer installed. The first time it happened was right after the first big Windows 7 security update, so I thought it was a fluke, but it's done it to me 3 times now. IIS is gone, and the c:\inetpub folder is gone, and I have to go back to Windows components and reinstall it. Any ideas? Thanks,RobinDotNetClick here to visit my ClickOnce blog!Microsoft MVP, Client App Dev

RobinDotNet, Is the sevice's registry hive gone as well? This is a really odd behavior. Maybe worth turning on auditing to find what process is removing the service and files. If you need extra help, you can reach us at: InitialAssist@cbfive.com See my blogs at http://www.cbfive.com/blog - Jared Crandall

Hi, Thank you for posting here. It appears this issue is related to IIS, since we have specific support for IIS related issues and questions, please go to IIS Forum for help: IIS Forum In addition, please also check if some other settings will be changed back after rebooting the computer. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Nichola -- I will re-post over in the IIS forum. I looked for it in the MSDN forums, but couldn't find it there, and wasn't sure where to go. Jared Crandall -- I prefer to post and receive answers in the forums, so if other people have the same problem, they can find the answer by searching the forums. Thanks!RobinDotNetClick here to visit my ClickOnce blog!Microsoft MVP, Client App Dev
