IE takes long time (10 to 30 seconds) to start...
I am trying out W7 on Thinkpad T400.Overall experience is very positive.Installation is smoother than 'Vista' itself.I had to install "Thinkpad Access Connection' to use built-in broadband.Note: The utility tries to manage multiple profiles (wired, wireless and broadband). After I install the utility, IE takes a long time to start (10 to 30 seconds).Once IE starts, it works just fine.I had repeated the installation procedure (clean install) few times. And, I am very confident that the IE slow strt happens only after I install the utility.I assume the final version of Windows-7, IE-8 and Thinkpad utilities will resolve the issue.Meanwhile, is there something I can do give accurate feedback to MSFT as well as Lenovo. What is that IE waiting for?Any network related config (like proxies or DNS).Is there something I can check to find what IE is waiting for to give a quality feedback? Thanks in adv

This issue can be caused by third party add-ons or compatibility issue between Thinkpad program and Windows 7. I suggest first try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Run IE with No Add-ons Click Start, copy and paste Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) into Start Search box and press Enter. Change the cookie settings and have a test. 2. Reset IE 1) Click Start button-> Control Panel. 2) Change to Classic View on the left pane and double-click the Internet Options icon. 3) On the Security tab, click Default level button for each icon in the Select a zone to view or change security settings. 4) Click to Programs tab, and then click the Make default button if it is not grayed out. 5) Click to Advanced tab, click Restore advanced settings button in the Settings area. 6) Click the Reset button in the Reset Internet Explorer settings area and Click OK. 7) Click Apply, and then click OK. Hope this helps!Sean Zhu - MSFT
