IE Prompting download instead of Opening
This is a relatively new issue in our environment. We have a Windows 7 PC with IE 8. Whenever they go to a page that attempts to load either an ASPX file, or a java servlet (.do file), they are prompted to download it instead. I assume there is a security setting set to "prompt" instead of run, but I cannot find it. I am posting this here because I could not find an IE forum, and this seams to be happening in Windows 7 only (new installations, older ones are working fine).

Did you check your IE security settings? Maybe you've disabled too much scripting features."192 GB ought to be enough for anybody." (from the miniseries "Next Generation's Jokes")

Not sure but if it is Java related, do you have java client installed? Download from www.java.com and try again? Good luck! /GWith best regards Gorgis

This is a default installation. No IE settings have been changed.

This is not a java issue because it is occurring for ASPX (ASP .Net) pages. Verified. Java is installed and it hasn't changed.

So, I still haven't found a solution to this, but I have been thinking about it a lot. .do and .aspx files are supposed to be run on the server. The client should never see them. Since I am being prompted to download them, can I assume my PC is doing something to prevent the requests from being forwarded?

So yeah, Got this working. Basically, the sites were prompting me to download files name "page.aspx" and "view.do". The problem is that the files are actually just PDFs with the wrong extensions. Once I changed my MIME settings to handle the documents with Adobe Reader, everything is working just fine... Very frustrating.
