IE 9 enhanced security configuration - how to turn off?
I have just taken delivery of some nice new shiny Dell systems running Windows 7 with IE9. When I logged in as the network administrator I found that IE enhanced security was turned on by default thus making it a pain in the neck browsing. I looked all over to find a way to turn it off but couldn't. I then assumed that as the profile was roaming that the settings were replicated from logging on to the main 2008 R2 server. So, I went on the server and turned enhanced security off. Then logged off (to save profiles) and logged back on again. Checked in IE9 and enhanced security was turned off. I went back to the Pc and logged in as network admin but IE9 enhanced security is still turned on. I looked in LSP but didn't spot anything there so does anyone know how on a Windows 7 PC do you turn off the enhanced security in IE9? tks I.T. Manager International House London

Hi, The enhanced security configuration component is not available in Windows 7; although you could see this page, the important registry key is not available in Windows 7. Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Based on my understanding, Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is designed to reduce server's exposure to security threats. This is a feature applies to Windows Server. I would like to wonder where you found that Internet Explorer Enhanced Security was turned on in Windows 7. As a test, you could modify the Internet Explorer 9 security level on specific zone to see how it works. It does seem odd as it only seems to happen when logging on a Windows 7 PC as user Administrator. Log as normal user and it doesn't come up. Bearing in mind that Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2 are basically the same code and by default, when logging on at the server you'd expect enhanced security to be on I had wondered if this was being stored in the roaming profile for user Administrator. At a Windows 7 PC when I try to use IE by default it goes to - res://iesetup.dll/HardAdmin.htm which displays the screen about enhanced securit being turned on. Maybe this isn't actually happening but it does seem odd that IE should default to showing the warning about enhanced security being on.I.T. Manager International House London

I've checked those articles and you are right, that key is not there in the registry. So it was a false alarm all along. Makes me wonder why IE was saying it though.I.T. Manager International House London
