I have a problem with IE 8. It starts.. you see the browser window appear and immediately vanish. I can't find anything in Event log to indicate what the heck is going on. I am using google Chrome for now... This is Kind of annoying. Anyone know how you re-install IE 8 in Windows 7? I keep searching for solutions but I can't find anyone having the same problem.

Hi, Based on my known, a corrupt/incompatibility add-on could cause the problem. Suggestion: Run IE without Add-ons=============================1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).2. Visit website in this IE and test the issue. . Hope it helps.

I have a windows 2003 r2 server basically new doing the same. -extoff gives me the same result. Coincidentally(?) windows/microsoft update has also stopped working. The process is still running however. If I kill the process, the next run I am presented with the session restore dialog and both options have the same vanishing result.
