IE 8 does not remember Save As location in Windows 7
Hi,I am trying to download multiple files from a website and save it in a directory. In my old Windows XP laptop, I save the first file to a directory x, for the next file, IE will prompt to save in the same directory x.But in Windows 7, when saving second file, it prompts to save in default directory i.e. desktop. It does not remember the directory where the first file was stored. So everytime I have to browse to my folder to save files. This is very time consumingIs this a bug in Windows 7(or IE8) or is there a way around?ThanksStan

To resolve the issue, you have to create a new registry entry . I’ve created a .reg file to make this process ease. However, it is recommended to take a backup of the Windows registry before making any modifications. This will help you to restore the registry incase of any issues. Also, read the readme.txt file before applying the solution. Download the fix Now your IE will remember the Save As .. Location. Regards I want to be a MVP! | Computer Technician

I looked at the .reg file in that download: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] "TabProcGrowth"=dword:00000000 It adds the TabProcGrowth key to the Main key. I don't see how that is going to fix this problem. Interesting to see if it makes a difference. From Opening a New Tab may launch a New Process with Internet Explorer 8.0 HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main - TabProcGrowth (string or dword) Tab Process Growth : Sets the rate at which IE creates New Tab processes.
