IE 8 and windows 7
If this is not the correct forum for my question, please move to the correct one. This problem is driving me nuts.Issue: IE 8 with wind 7 DOES NOT use login information, I have to login to each site everytime that I start IE8. This was NOT an issue with Vista Ultimate, so I am figuring that it is something in win7 that is causing the behaivor.I have several websites that only use login cookies to relogin, none are what can be called secure, although 2 of them say they are.Technet, Facebook, Twitter are the only ones I know that have timeouts, which is fine. Sites that never had an issue with reloggin in and I know the site admins and have been assured that they have not changed any behaviors on the sites side are not autopopulating the login, or for that matter even trying to login when I open IE8I know internet security is paramont, but this is a home system and the sites are general you have to have a login to access the forums, that is it.Can someone please let me know if it is just me or this is something that is seen out there. I have resinstalled the win7 ultimatea dozen times and it does the same thing, looses the login info unless I start to type the information in, even the checkboxs saying remember me are not workingAny help is appreciatedGlenn

The first time I logged into a site requiring a stored password, I got the message "AutoComplete Passwords", "Do you want Internet Explorer to remember this password?"The dialog box also contained a checkbox [ ] Don't offer to remember any more passwords. You didn't by chance check that box did you?The key term mentioned is "AutoComplete", so there's probably an item somewhere in the AutoComplete config section that's pertinent.-Noel

If I put in the first couple of letters of my name, most will repopulate the login and work, I have 2 sites that will not even do that. I went to an FAQ that listed the possible causes and possible fixes, since it seems that IE remembers most of the information, then it is not the first step that IE does, local login cachint, it has to be the second set that is not remembering to prepopulate when the site is opened.ie: My login for Windows live, always asks me to relogin when I open it. All I have to do is click on my live ID and I log in, no problem. I log intoa guild site that is just a php forum, up until this problem, whenever I would open the webpage I would be logged in and ready to go. Since the Release of Vista and win7 that does not work reliably, sometimes it does, but for the most it does not. This behavior has been present in EVERY bulid I have done for vista and win7.I have tried every freeken fix I have been able to find, no luck, so now I come tomicrosoft to see if thisis a random event or theyhaveheard of this beforeGlenn

Keep in mind that although Microsoft China occasionally responds to these threads, this is primarily a community of Windows users like yourself. For what it's worth, the problem you're experiencing isn't a given with Windows 7 and IE8. Just as a test I logged into a php forum last night and was able to get into that forum again and again without a subsequent re-entry of login information. What IE Add-ins do you have enabled? Have you tried disabling them? Are your Internet Zone security settings at default, or if not do you know what each of them is doing?-Noel

I have loaded no add-ons to IE, do not believe in them unless IE itself installs them for a site.As far as the Internet Zone is concerned, I did not enable any items that were marked unsafe, nor did I disable any of the settings. I go in and make sure all the active X controls are enabled as well as for autofill, any java settings that need to be enabled. The only one I think may have something to do with it, and this I am not sure is the login controls, I tell it to use automatic login for internet only. Other than that, none of my changes have in the past caused this.Glenn
