IE 8 Crashes Whenever I Click a Link
I have a box running Vista business with Internet Explorer 8. I've just performed a clean reinstall of Vista from the CD. Whenever I click a link from an external program such as Outlook, I get an error that says Internet Explorer has stopped working, and I get this in the event log: Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549b133, faulting module urlmon.dll, version 8.0.6001.18999, time stamp 0x4ccfa949, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002df6e, process id 0x15bc, application start time 0x01cbbc8ccdf93437. I've installed Chrome. If that is the default browser, it works fine. I have Symantec Endpoint Protection running. However, the problem still occurs even if I disable it. <QP> The computer was connected to the LAN for several days before Endpoint was installed due to a glitch with Endpoint that was preventing the install And therein lies the rub IMHO. You are seeing the effects of a hijackware infection. See... Cleaning a Compromised System http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700813.aspx Back-up any personal data (none of which should be considered 100% trustworthy at this point) then format the HDD & do a clean install of Windows. Please note that a Repair Install (AKA in-place upgrade) will NOT fix this! <snip> </QP> Source: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/b998300e-4593-422d-92a1-c19d4ec67f29 ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (IE, Mail, Security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ Disclaimer: MS MVPs neither represent nor work for Microsoft

Hi, please download this reg file from my SkyDrive: http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/WER%5E_InternetExplorer.reg.txt (remove the .txt extension after you downloaded the file) and make a double click on the .reg file to import it. When the Internet Explorer crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the file to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take a look at the dump with the Debugger, maybe I can see which Addon/Toolbar is the cause. I don't believe this is the case because I've done a full format and reinstall of the OS and the behaviour still occurs.Daryl Sensenig Tents For Rent LLC http://paevent.com/tfr
