IE9 Print Preview and Printing not working
IE9, Win7Pro, Roaming profile (folder redirect), GOPs.... I've tried this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973479 it works for some only while they are logged in but as soon as they log out and back out then they have to rerun the ICALS command. We setup a logon script but this does not work for everyone. (scenario 3, 4 and method 5 have been tried). The other two were rolled out because a different user without the issue can log into the same system and preview/print fine. Most users are not having this issue only about a dozen so far that have spoken up about it and of course they are VIP customers. I've looked at Procmon for a good user and a bad user but did not see anything that was different. Tried process monitor as well. I see that the print process is translating from 32bit to 64bit. When I move the bad user's system from the current polices OU to the Computer OU he is then able to print, local account can print. But as soon as we move his system back into the OU the problem comes back. I believe it is related to Protected Mode because of the test, but why are some people affected and others are not. I copied two of the bad user accounts and the issue went away for those accounts.... Dennis C. Varen Technologies

Hi, it works for some only while they are logged in but as soon as they log out and back out then they have to rerun the ICALS command. For the issue above, I guess this issue is cuased by your Group Policy, please check whether you have any Policy affecting Low folder or Protected Mode setting. Furthermore, as you said above, it is related to Protected Mode based on your test. Because when Protected Mode is enalbed, the compatibility layer uses a Windows Compatibility Shim to automatically redirect the operations by IE to the following low integrity locations: Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\LocalSettings\TemporaryInternet Files\Virtualized HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\InternetRegistry Extensions can write to the following locations: Documents and Settings\%USER PROFILE%... ...\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Low ...\Local Settings\Temp\Low ...\Local Settings\History\Low ...\%USER PROFILE%\Favorites\Low ...\%USER PROFILE%\Cookies\Low %USER PROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow Juke Chou TechNet Subscriber Support If you are TechNet Subscription user and have any feedback on our support quality, please send your feedbackhere. Sorry for the delay in getting an update. After the Aug patch Tuesday evreyone has now been able to print. We noticed there was one patch issued related to IE and the only thing I can think is that it reset a setting or fixed a path issue. Dennis C. Varen Technologies
