IE9 Download Prompt
I've ran across an issue with IE9 that is affecting file downloads. Some clients get a prompt like the first image below and after clicking any option nothing happens. Other clients get a prompt like the 2nd image below and everything works correctly. From my research the 2nd image reflects the new download manager stuff in IE9 but I can't find a setting that control the behavior between image 1 and image 2. The images reflect the same download from the same url. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. image 1 image 2

I've came across something that seems to be part of the issue. A software package we use changes the iexplore.exe value form 1 to 0 in the FEATURE_MIME_HANDLING key each time the web-based app is opened. I found some info about this key at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749557%28v=ws.10%29.aspx. I am unsure why this setting would break file downloads though.

Hi, The download manager in IE9 should be displayed like image 2. Its the new feature in IE9 called download manager tool. I suggest to perform these tests on the problem PC which show the download prompt like image one: 1 Logon with Safe Mode with networking 2 Reset IE9 advanced settings 3 Reinstall IE9: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/how-do-i-install-or-uninstall-internet-explorer-9 If the issue persists, I suggest to contact IE forum for further help: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ieitprocurrentver/threads The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.
