IE8 won't allow download of activex object
I am having trouble connecting to my work vpn from home. The first time you visit the site it wants to download an activex object for Citrix and java. All my attempts to temporarily lower the security settings have failed as whenever I try to install the object Windows says it is looking for a solution to a problem with IE and eventually returns me to the page without doing anything. Any help would be very much appreciated :)

If you are using the 64 bit version of IE, then open the 32 bit version of IE and you will probably find that it works.I do not have the 64 bit version of 7 loaded, but in Vista 64 you will find the IE I am referring too under programs - x86, I would guess it is in the same place on 7.Bob

thanks but I sorted it out....I had to set IE to run in Compatability View and this allowed the page and activex objects to load correctly. I also had problems displaying other web pages and these work fine with Compatability view - just click the little icon to the immediate right of the address.good luck with W7!
