IE8 will not display
I have an issue with my explorer where I cannot open the explorer. I can FTP because i can update the Symantec softwear and i can ping all sites from the command prompt. I can also open TELNET type systems for internet PvP programs. It seems the internet port is closed, but that is usually on the server, so I am stumped. I had a malware (www.full-scan.c o m) that ate my whole system. I cleaned that up, but cannot get the browser to do anything besides show the "cannot display the webpage". I have tried the diagnosis, device manager and troubleshooting processes. I have done the regsvr32 for the DLL's. any other suggestions? The Full-scan nonsense gives you fake anti-virus and directs you to initiate thier DEFRAG. It lists Microsoft as the creator of this program. It also gives you pop-up icons at the bottom toolbar that show you are missing your harddrive, DLL files and EXE files. Went to the geek squad. After a couple of hours we figured out the mal-ware had set the PROXIE to initiate. Turned it off and there was the internet. This is for anyone that has the same problem. Symantec does NOT pick this thing up.1 person needs an answerI do too

Have you looked in Event Viewer? To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, right click and select Filter Current Log. Check the box before Error and click on OK and you see only Error reports. Click on the Date and Time Header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the latest Report at the top. A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. Click on the Copy button to place a copy on your Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste into the body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell
