IE8 stops working loses download when closing main window
Same as in vista SP2. When you start a filedownload with IE8, if you then close the parent website so only the download window remainsIE8 crashes withthe messege "internet explorer has stoped working" which terminates the incomplete download.

Mr Seven - Which version did you say you've got installed? RC or RTM? 32 bit or 64 bit?I'm now downloading a page with IE 8 and the only tabs open are from this site - the download is coming from somewhere entirely different. Running the 32 bit RC here.

This is persistant on my vista sp2 32 bits and 7 RC 32 bits. Now if you try and close internet explorer entirely but keep the download open there is a good chance you will get the crashI described and have to restart the download, that is if you click the upper right hand terminator x this error may occur.

Mr Seven - Funny thing about that... As soon as I hiit the submit button, I closed all the tabs I had open - and the download finished successfully.. I'll try it again, just for grins and giggles, but I'm fairly sure it won't blow chunks... I'll post again when I'm done..

Wolfie -The only thing is it's intermittent so this won't happen when you try to reproduce it but only when you least expect it. and have an important download.Good luck.

Right now it's RC. You have to close internet explorer while it's downloading and I'm not making this up, it will crash as we speak.

Mr Seven - Ok.. Same version I've got here. Is it site dependent maybe? Where are you downloading from and what are you downloading? Do you have anything else running in the background? AV? Have you tried it with no addons installed?
