IE8 keeps asking for credentials while trying to access an Intranet site
Hi people, Let me explain the situation. I'm connected to a VPN. If I use Google Chrome, I can enter the site correctly. But if using IE8, I can't. IE prompts for my credentials but as I enter them, I keep getting the same prompt over and over again until I get a 401 error (Not authorized...) But, as I mentioned, I can enter correctly using Google Chrome. I have already tried adding this site to trusted sites, then changed it to intranet sites. I tried all the 4 options within security options - user authentication. But the result is always the same. Someone might say 'Then why don't you use Google Chrome then?'. And the answer would be something like 'because some applets just won't work on Google Chrome'. So, any hint, help, direction here, will be VERY appreciated! Regards, Ripka

If the issue is IE configruation related and you do not know which setting is causing you the problem, go to the advanced tab and reset it back to defaults. Guides and tutorials, visit ITGeared.com.

Hi, First of all, thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, restoring back to defaults didn't solve the problem. Regards, Ripka

Could this be an issue with the configuration of the web site? For instance, with the authentication settings? Do you have both browsers configured the same (is one configured to use a proxy while the other is not)? Guides and tutorials, visit ITGeared.com.
