IE8 failuer in new 7 install
OK... I installed an upgrade of Windows 7. First time running everything went well. All programs - including IE8 worked fine. I then ran Microsoft Update and that's when the problem started. IE8 will now start - run for one second - and then shut down. Firefox & Chrome continue to run normally. I tried to do a system restore, but still no luck. My system is an HP Pavillion Core 2 Quad with 4 gig memory. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Solutions?

I was having problems with IE8 but followed this tip and it corrected it, hope this cures yours up! chamblisstom@bellsouth.net Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. In the User Account Control window, verify that Program name is Windows Command Processor, and then click Yes. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type or paste the following text at the prompt: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f Press Enter to install the solution. Fixed it! Just went into the Control Panel - selected All Control Panel Items - and then Internet Options. In the Advanced Tab and chose Reset Defaults. All works now. To quote the father of my nemisis - WoooHooo!
