IE8 cannot display the webpage
IE8 as well as windows update or any other Microsoft program will not connect to the internet. The Network and Sharing Center states that I am connected to the internet through my home network. Firefox 3, all onlines games (World of Warcraft, FEAR, etc.) that I have tried all work fine. My three other computers (Running IE8) all work fine. I have reset my IP adresses for each computer as well as reset my modem and the router. Is anyone else having this problem? Any Solutions? This is the first major problem I have had with Windows 7 and really it seems to be IE8. I am running a 64Bit version of Build 7000.

I also have a similar problem where Internet explorer 8, Windows Update, Windows Sidebar gadgets, Windows Live Messenger and other microsoftprogram areunable to connect to the internet while the network and sharing center is saying i am connected to the internet. But my anitvirus program, other web browsers, and other programs which are not related to microsoft are connecting fine to the internet. But then I kept that account and created another administratoraccount on Windows 7, and in that account all programs including Microsoft programs were workingfor the first day, then the next day the same thing that happened to my other administrator account I was talking about happened to this adminstrator account. I then created another account, which is just a standard user, and all programs including microsoft program connect to the internet fine, and has been working finefor more than a fewweeks . But inmy other 2 administrator accounts from before, Microsoft programs are stillunable to connect to the internet, but other programs are able to. I would like to know whether anyone knows why this is occuring.

Symptomatically, the problem seems to lie with the setting for the browser connection. (IE, Tools menu, Optuions, Connection tab.) If it is set to 'never use a connection', click the "Lan Settings" button. Something in there may be checked that is stopping the connection.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP

Ferguson MS-MVP In the Lan Settings everything seems to be fine, and also the internet stopped working on my first administrator accountafter a long while from installing Windows 7. It just suddenly seemed to stop working one day, but works on the newer Standard user account I created.

This issue should be caused by your Internet server. Do you have to connect to Internet via a proxy? If so, you need to set the connection of the programs like IE 8 to connect via proxy. Otherwise, if the computer does not connect via a proxy, the firewall in your ISP side may block these new version programs to access Internet for some reasons. I suggest that you contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for related information.Arthur Xie - MSFT

I also do not think the firewall on my ISP side maybe blocking it, since I was able to create a standard user account, and able to access on the computer on Windows 7 and use other microsoft products are able to connect to the internet on this account. The problem I stated where I am unableto connect to theinternet through Internet explorer 8 or any microsoft product isunable to connect to theinternetonlyhappens on the Administratoraccount, i was using before I createdthjis standard user account, as a temporary workaround to that problem.

Hi, Get it. Since the other account on that computer works well, there should not be any issue on the network. The issue can be caused by some policies that are brought by some programs. Try the following method to remove all local policies. 1. Click Start, type REGEDIT in the Start Search bar and press Enter. 2. Locate the following key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft] 3. Right-click on the branch and choose Export. Save on Desktop as backup.4. Highlight Microsoft and click "Delete". 5. Repeat the steps to backup and delete the following keys: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies If the issue still occurs, temporary disable anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware and check the result again.Arthur Xie - MSFT
