IE8 Search Box w/ custom OpenSearch Web Service endpoint: favicon not appearing
I am putting together a OpenSearch Web service endpoint for my data source.Creating this service's OpenSearch Discription document, *.osdx, I am providing a favicon image tag. Now here is the strange part, same web service PHP code for both and same osdx document with one minor change: OpenSearch endpoint location. Search requests works and there is an issue with the favicon. When my osdx document references my OpenSearch Web service endpoint hosted on Apache 2.2, then IE8 browser Search box shows my favicon icon. When my osdx document references my OpenSearch Web service endpoint is hosted on IIS7, then IE8 browser Search box does not show my favicon icon. What could be happening and how can I resolve it? Thanks Jeff in Seattle

Hi Shalini S I am not sure why my posting was moved from Internet Explorer forum to Windows 7 form. My posting pertains to a Internet Explorer 8 feature that works on any Windows OS and not specifically Windows 7. Please explain? Thanks Jeff in Seattle

Hi there, How did you add “favicon image tag”, is it a not-support code for IIS7? The version of IIS distributed with Windows 7. AFAIK it is IIS 7.5. Do you still use IIS7 (on PC with another OS other than Windows 7)? If this issue did not only appear on Windows 7, this thread should be moved back to Internet Explorer since this sub-forum is for Windows 7 related issue.

My bug. Figured it out.If I referenced the OpenSearch provider without adding to Browser, then the favicon.ico would not appear even though a search could be performed. However, if I add the OpenSearch provider to the Browser, then the favicon.ico would appear. Thanks Jeff in Seattle
