IE8 / Linksys WAG354G-reboot .asp .cgi problems ?
Tearing hair over over this one:- I haven't rummaged in my WAG354G for months, and since that time of course, lots of MS upgrades to my XP Home SP3+ inc. IE8 have gone in. Earlier today set WAG354G to "hard reboot," and got the normal little IE8 login box? for username and password twice and then the similar linksys login box, ....which failed - box displays IE8's "Unable to diaplay web page etc. :- I enter 192.168.1.1 in IE8 URL slot, and up pops IE8's? "The server 192.168.1.1 at (null) requires a username and password, so I enter them and click OK,WAG354G setup screen appears,I click on Administration | reboot, radio button dot is already in "Hard," so I click "Save" to proceed, now I get a small dialogue box titled "Message form webpage" - "Will you really want to reboot the device?,"so I click OK, (can't ever remember seeing that in the distant past),Again appears IE8's? "The server 192.168.1.1 at (null) requires a username and password, and screen upper left appears a small blank empty box, so I enter them again and click OK,Now I get the familiar Linksys login box titled "Credentials Validate - Windows Internet Explorer,"...so for the thrid time I enter Gateway usename and Gateway Password, and click "Submit,"and the little box fillsup with, "Internet Explorer cannot display the w ...can't see the rest of it in that little box. Have tried resetting IE8 to default settings,192.168.1.1 is in Trusted Sites Zoneuninstalled laatest Sun Java, installed old msjavx86.xe,Tried IE8 with no add-ons,upgraded WAG354G firmware from 1.01.05 to 1.01.11set anti-virus real-time scanner to ignore IE8's Temporary Internet Files directory, which I keep emptying, turned off IE8 pop-up blocker,....and lots of other things, ...in other words, tearing things apart in there !...pretty sure that in the past I never got two in a row of IE's "The server 192.168.1.1 at (null) requires a username and password", ...any clues gratefully appreciated, TIA regards, Richard1 person needs an answerI do too
