I'm having two NICs and using ICS to share my internet connection (NIC 1) to the rest of the network (NIC 2). Of course ICS is assigning a static IP to NIC 2, which makes the whole home-network connected to NIC 2 an "unidentified network". Why does Win 7 classify NIC 2 as unidentified network and thus gives it the PUBLIC profile unless you change this in secpol.msc? I really see no reasoning for such behavior.

Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. b. In the popup window, type the following commands and press Enter one by one: ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew Then, the new IP address will be obtained. 2. Configure the gateway to the IP address of the client computer (For example: 192.168.0.1, the IP address assigned by ICS) Thanks, Novak
