I.E9 beta for Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I downloaded (twice) I.E.9 beta and installed it, but when i go to run the program, almost immediatley it comes up with "Internet Explorer has stopped working" When i uninstall it I.E.8 works fine . I realise it is a beta, but it works fine on my friends PC ( he has the same 64 bit O/S as i have.) The program installed fine with no problems.Looking through "Event Viewer" the only error at the time i installed I.E.9 has something todo with WindowsBlinds Also this event: Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab at: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab> with error: A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file. I have no idea as to what that means. My specs are: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Intel Q8200 cpu Gigabyte P45-DS3 Motherboard (F9 BIOS) 2 x 500Gb Seagate HDD's ATI 4670 1Gb Video Card 1 Tb external USB drive Logitech Wireless Kb and Mouse Thanks. john

Well it is IE9 beta. Beta means that not all problems have been worked out. So first piece of advice: Stop installing beta version of anything and then come in here crying, is beta, and if you're not an advanced computer user you shouldn't be mesing with betas Second the event viewer is found if you run compmgmt.msc Third you might need this to learn how to use a computer The Computer Manual

I downloaded (twice) I.E.9 beta and installed it, but when i go to run the program, almost immediatley it comes up with "Internet Explorer has stopped working" Hi, this message means, the Internet Explorer crashes. please download this reg file from my SkyDrive: http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/WER%5E_InternetExplorer.reg and make a double click on the file to import it. When the Internet Explorer crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the file to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take a look at the dump with the Debugger, maybe I can see which Shell extension is the cause. As for learning how to use a computer, seeing i have used them since the Commodore64 days, I'll leave that open. Thanks for your reply anyway.

I think that dump files are not needed in this case. Internet Explorer 9 just released recently, some users have met Crashes, freezes and bugs on IE9 when they use windows 7, this is a guide of How to Fix IE9 Crashes on Windows 7 http://www.pubarticles.com/article-how-to-fix-ie9-crashes-on-windows-7-1284688576.html Hoping it can help you solve this problem. only because you are unable to look at dumps, the y are not useless. Stop your SPAM! ONLY DUMPS SHOW THE CAUSE OF CRASHES!"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

I am able to look at dumps. Thanks for the information you gave "ONLY DUMPS SHOW THE CAUSE OF CRASHES". The user want the resolution and not the cause. @linuts01: For the "A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file" error, please refer to the following link: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/acdf1b25-dace-4cfc-8a3d-cb961c1031cc Also refer to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2328240 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

The user want the resolution and not the cause. And how to fix it without knowing the cause?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

the only error at the time i installed I.E.9 has something todo with WindowsBlinds Uninstall StarDock WindowBlinds. It's a junk "vanity" product that does nothing good to the perfectly good Windows UI. For one thing it messes up the system metrics applications use to know how big their client space, borders, etc. are. -Noel

And how to fix it without knowing the cause? We start by the known resolutions and if that does not help we search the cause. I recommand to you to have a look to what is mentioned in the article I gave. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

where is the dump? "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/ For some reason when I.E.9 gives me the stopped working error, its not creating a dump file. I have the "small memory dump (256K) enabled in %systemroot%\minidump. Seeing as i have not had 1 single BSOD since i installed Win 7 (touch wood :) ) there was no minidump created. As i understand it you have to have a "crash" for a dump file to be created...?. I can live with I.E.8 but I.E.9 looked very good on my mates PC. I looked into the log files and in the I.E.9 setup log there was this: ######## failed: ( IF NOT EXIST "%SystemRoot%\servicing\packages\Package_for_KB00004?_RTM*.mum" exit 1)=ff000001 ________ WARNING ________ Prerequisite GDRs on rtm win7 are not found: IF NOT EXIST "%SystemRoot%\servicing\packages\Package_for_KB00004?_RTM*.mum" exit 1 Other than that I.E.9 installed perfectly, It just did not run. cheers

O.K. managed to get up and running with I.E.9b, it seems the conflict was with Stardocks WindowBlinds, but they put a WB7 beta out that had I.E.9 support, so i installed the WB7 beta and installed I.E.9b with no problems at all. I must say its impressive and remarkably quick, I think for now Firefox is going to get put into storage. Thanks to all for the replies. cheers
