I've installed Microsoft Fix It on Windows 8.1 but it has not done its job, now what?

Hi,

Since buying my new laptop and installing outlook, my emails have not been sending and has given the code of 0x8004210b indicating that the server timed out. I have researched this and from information found downloaded ms fix it.

Of course I now realise ms fix it on 8.1 does not work so I have two questions:-

Where do I find the Microsoft files relating to Ms fixit that I can delete (I have looked but cannot find)?

And What can I do now to rectify this email sending issue?

Kind Regards

Hi,

First, you can try following command to remove fixit by using the KB number:

wusa /uninstall /kb:(kb number)

Then, make sure that in your Outlook, the authentication in SMTP was set correctly.

If you have any 3rd part firewall or security application which have email scan feature, please disable it to check the results.

Also, please check the solution in this article:

Hi Kate,

Thanks for your reply but I cant seem to work out how to uninstall using KB number?

Also I have checked what you said regarding the emails not sending and checked your link but still no luck. If it helps (probably not) Im sure the settings I have on my laptop were the same as my old PC which sent emails fine. What else could you suggest. Having changed port numbers on reading the article, I've gone back to outgoing port 25.

Regards

Jonathan
