I'm trying to map/mount an external drive/NETwork drive. MaxtorShared Storage II (firm upgrade made it III).
1st off, I would like to wish all a very safe and Happy Holiday to all of you and all of yours.I have five Terabytes on my system; 250GB Internal (C:\\), and a 750 Internal (D:\\).Externally I have a D-Link model DNS-323, two bay, each bay contains a 1TB drive, setup as two seperate drives. Then there is the "Maxtor Shared Storage II" (III), connected to a D-Link "DIR-655" wireless router. Connected to the MSS_II, is a 1TB "One Touch4 Plus" drive, dedicated to backing up the MSS_II. I have all of my software on the MSS_II. Fromversion 4to version 7 and all of the Updates in between. So I'm in a situation where I cannot get to the software (which has my printer drivers... I know, I can get them off the net.I remember before when I had to restore my drive and I was chatting all of the time w/ Maxtor who took control of my computer, WITH permission, and they would open the "Start", "Run" window and would type something like //?????/MSS_II then a window would open up and the drive would show up and I would right click the drive and "Mount" the drive. It would then, by default, set the drive to "Z".I dont remember the syntax. Can I get some help please. I'm in dire need.NO I don't want to do it through the drive management way. NO I don't want to do it through DOS. I would truly want to do it through thr "RUN" line. With the greatest of appreciation,CAH II1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,HopefullyI have understood what you are trying to achieve.Maxtor were probably specifying a UNC path in the form of \\<servername>\<sharename>\<directory>Where the servername is the hostname of the D-Link "DIR-655" wireless routerAnd then mounting the directory as a network drive: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/308582If you wish do this via the run field, specify net use: Z: \\<servername>\<sharename>\<directory>Cheers,
