I'd like to partition my hard disk but in my Disk Management, there is no black strip and right-clicking on the available partiton doesn't have a 'resize' link. I'm working on a Gateway netbook with pre-installed Windows XP
Correction: there is no 'New Partition' link when I right-click on unallocated space.1 person needs an answerI do too

I'm curious : what good does it do for you to partition your Gateway Notebook? If it's a good reason, I may try that on my notebook too.

Sorry this is a little late - did you receive an answer? If not, here goes . . . I always partition my drives, especially on a laptop, so that I can protect data in case of the need to re-install Windows. Windows is on C:/ and my data is on a new partition D:/ - photos, work files, accounts, etc. That way when you format C:/ and install Windows fresh, your data should be intact. You can extend this like I do and have partitions for each type of data - M:/ media, etc. Regards, Ian Darlington, Adept IT & Internet.www.1adept-it.co.uk
