did you upgrade your PC from Windows 7 or Windows 8 to Windows 8.1?

may I know your PC spec?

some of NIC or driver cant support Hyper-V virtual switch or need to be updated

I would suggest to reinstall network driver (LAN, WIFI and Bluetooth) the driver or update to the latest version (find the driver and updated one at your PC manufactured site). Also update your chipset (if any)

Thank you for all your replies , as it would happen the same occurred with vmware workstation. I eventually figured it out. It is a UFI / BIOS setting  enabled by default for XP compatibility. Once you switch it off  everything works. I would lave to post  the screen shot however with my current profile I am not allowed.

However thank yo for all your posts and taking the time.

cheers
