Hybrid Sleep Has Suddenly Stopped Working?
My Desktop PC wouldn't go into Sleep mode today. It's been OK for a year or more - configured in Default "Allow Hybrid Sleep" mode. Last week we had a power cut and when I restarted the PC it resumed from hibernation, so I know that Hybrid Sleep was working just fine. Now today, when I try to put the PC into Sleep mode, the screen blanks and then a second later the screen comes back on again. No error msgs, nothing - it just won't sleep. After much investigation, I tried disabled "Allow Hybrid Sleep" mode. Then the basic Sleep mode functionality started working again. However, when I tested hibernation this still wouldn't work. I removed the pagefile.sys (paging file) and hiberfil.sys (hibernation file) in the system drive root; to test if they had been corrupted in some way, but this made no difference. So, it appears Hybrid Sleep mode (and/or rather hibernation mode) have just stopped working. Any ideas on what could cause this? Thanks NigelSNigelS

Please update the display card driver to the latest version and see if the issue can be resolved. Also, you can access Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue. Thanks for replying. I'm already using the latest graphics driver. I had already tried reverting to the Microsoft WDM 1.1. equivalent driver with no change in beaviour; and in any case the Hybrid sleep feature was working before with the same graphics drivers in place so I do not believe this could be a factor. I will try the Clean Boot approach as I think it is more likely something installed recently, and maybe running in the background has affected the Hybrid Sleep mode - the PC blanks the display as it starts the "sleep" process but then suddenly switches the display back on again. It is as if something is denying the request to enter sleep mode.NigelS
