Hi, did you add a new device to your pc, you may have a driver missing.Go to the cotrol panel and start the device manager and see if there are any exclamation marks, if there is they may be a driver missing. Once you add all of them the standby should come on again. Do the following to open it, quick. Click on Start and then Run. Type the following command in the Open: text box, and then hit the Enter key or click on the OK button. devmgmt.msc Device Manager should display right away.

Hello Ivanyugo Is there a Yellow error against the display adapter in Device Manager Right click My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager Try updating your video drivers.

Hi to all those who suggested a fix.I finally did a Restore to a week prior, and the problem was solved --- but I really do not know what the cause was.It could have been the installetion of Office 2007 or similar.Thanks again to all
