How to turn off an Ad Hoc network
Hi, I need help please with turning off my Ad Hoc network. I created it last night but it didn't do what I wanted to so I want to turn it off - so that it doesn't continue to show up in my list of available wireless networks. I have followed the steps listed on many websites: Go to | Wireless network list | Wireless network properties | Advanced | and have set the option to "Access Point (infrastructure) networks only" but my Ad Hoc network still displays in my list of available wireless networks. Please help.2 people need an answerI do too

Hi JGrae, Thanks for posting. Please do the following to disable AD-HOC. 1. Click the Windows XP Start button 2. Click Control Panel 3. Click Network and Internet Connections. 4. Under the section titled or pick a Control Panel icon , click on Network Connections. 5. Right Click on the Wireless Network Connection and select properties 6. A Wireless Network Connections Properties box will display with three tabs: General, Wireless Networks and Advanced. 7. Click on the Wireless Networks tab. Then click the Advanced button. 8. Select Access point (infrastructure) networks only 9. Click Close button. Then Click the OK button. Hope this helps!Shawn - Support Engineer - MCP, MCDST
