How to start the Windows Help
Hello,
this might be easy but I can't figure it out. How can I open the standard windows help, perhaps on specific topic I know the ID of? I am looking for a bit more scriptable way than clicking on it in the start menu.
For example, I want to display the help for Wordpad. I know this is mshelp://Windows/?id=7479c387-8dc4-40b6-9506-cc7a58c61f0a. However, the mshelp:// does not seem to be registered so I cannot just execute it from the Run dialog.
So is there any way how to create, for example, a desktop shortcut to open the Wordpad help? Or is there any executable I can pass the uri to? Perhaps an API call is needed?
Thank you,
Jan

Hi,
Base on my researched, there is not special command to open Windows Help and Support.
You need to open CMD, then input:
Cd C:\Users\Yourprofile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Maintenance
Then input help.lnk to open it.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Leo Huang, thanks for your reply.
That's true, but I cannot rely on the link to be present on the computer. On the other hand, having a lnk file means there actually is a way how to tell shell to start the Windows Help, doesn't it?
