Press Alt+F and select New Incoming connection Put a check on who youd like to give access to this computer or you can configure a new account by clicking on Add someone, after that click on Next. Put a check mark on Through the Internet. Click on Next. Select the protocols you want to enable for this connection. Click on Allow access. These are very basic instructions and very easy to following, and have done so several times with no success. Creating the incoming connection and configuring details is not a problem. I am running a DHCP server and need to assign a static IP address to the host VPN PC First - I am having trouble assigning a static IP address to the host PC, I have given it 192.168.1.88 + Submask + gateway. The DNS is the issue, When running PC config the DNS IS 192.168.1.1, the same as the gateway, and I get a message suggesting some possible conflict, so I accept this any way, but loose internet connect, I still have full network connect though :s, once I can figure this out, I should be able to move to the second step. What do I use for the DNS? Second - Port forwarding from the modem to the host PC. going to the router and configuring port forwarding to the static IP assigned, but need internal and external Ports What Ports do I use? once I have added the host PC IP and the ports I should be able to move on to the next step Third - creating connection from remote location to VPN Just as instructed, but using a mobile phone. VPN name, correct as assigned to incoming connection... correct. VPN server, I assume it means ISP IP of modem??? if so... correct. Then the user name and password assigned the incoming VPN connection. Done I believe that is all that is nessecary to connect, If it is possible to get some support configuring the IP and DNS settings it would be most appreciated. Why is it impossible to find a complete guide to configuring a Windows 7 VPN, including Static IP assignment of host PC, port Forwarding and connection configuration. The settings provided at the top are as easy as they come, but there is a whole lot more involved when setting it up??? at a loss

A couple of other things you have to do. Make sure you deselect the default routing option on the client workstation go to your TCP/IP settings option and click on the advanced button uncheck "Use default gateway on remote network" option Port forward port 1723 on the router of your host network

Hello, I am trying to configure VPN for 2 Windows 7 machines which are both behind firewalls. Which ports do I need to open in order for the traffic to pass from one host to another? Thanks, VanchoOV
